Author Guidelines

Please review these requirements before submitting to JOTS.

Author checklist

  • Manuscript is anonymized and free of identifying metadata.
  • Title, abstract (max 250 words), and 4-6 keywords included.
  • Tables and figures are labeled, cited, and supplied with captions.
  • Ethics approval, data availability, and funding statements included when applicable.
  • References follow a consistent citation style (APA preferred).

Article types and word limits

  • Research Articles (6,000-9,000 words, excluding references).
  • Review Articles (6,000-10,000 words).
  • Policy and Practice Briefs (3,000-5,000 words).
  • Case Studies (3,000-6,000 words).

Manuscript preparation

  • Submit a clean manuscript file without tracked changes.
  • Use clear section headings and consistent formatting.
  • Provide figure and table source notes where required.

Anonymisation

  • Remove author names, affiliations, and acknowledgements from the manuscript.
  • Replace self-citations with "Author" in the manuscript and references.
  • Strip identifying metadata from file properties.
